The Svinesund Connection has a facility for automatically registering the passage of vehicles using the AutoPASS On-Board Unit (OBU). In 2005/2006, other OBUs will be registered when they pass the automatic toll collection stations.

A valid OBU allows motorists to pass the toll collection facility without stopping. For safety reasons, reduced speed limits are imposed by the toll stations, but experience shows that automatic registration ensures a steady flow of traffic. Even though the stations have been designed to allow a high number of transits, queues may sometimes occur at the manned toll booths. Widespread usage of the AutoPASS OBU will ensure fewer queues.
